Greg Sheehan has called Valley Cottage home for over 30 years and is proud to raise his two young boys in the house where he grew up. His sons are now the third generation of Sheehan boys to go through Nyack Public Schools.
Greg has been a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), Local 825, for ten years and has worked on major infrastructure projects, including the building of the new Tappan Zee Bridge, giving him first hand experience managing teams to ensure projects are done safely and efficiently. Before joining the IUOE Local 825, Greg managed restaurants, where he was responsible for budgets, operations, and maintaining a staff.
Service has always been at the heart of Greg's life and has been heavily involved in the community over the past several years – serving as a Sea Tow Captain since 2006, leading a Boy Scout Den to share his love for scouting with children and families, is a member of the Rockland County Environmental Management Council, serves on the Board of Worship at his church, helping organize local food drives, is Co-Chair of the Clarkstown Democratic Committee, and more.
After years of working 70+ hours a week on the bridge, Greg dedicated time to expanding his involvement in the community and tackling one of the biggest challenges facing Clarkstown families: the rising cost of living. He knows firsthand the importance of strong and effective leadership in bringing home resources that can help families, like his, deal with the affordability crisis.
Above all, Greg is a devoted father and caregiver. While raising his two sons, he also helps care for retired and disabled family members. His life has been defined by hard work, responsibility, and service – values he will bring to the Clarkstown Town Clerk's Office.
