NYCLU webinar: Putting the ERA on the NY ballot in 2024

Wednesday, December 13th at 6:30 pm
New York Civil Liberties webinar
Putting the Equal Rights Amendment on the NY ballot in 2024
NYCLU is hosting an informational webinar on the referendum that will be on the NYS ballot in November 2024 which would add the Equal Rights Amendment to the NYS constitution. Here is the
link to sign up for the webinar

Right now, New York’s State Constitution does not protect all New Yorkers — for example, pregnant New Yorkers, women, LGBTQIA+ people, those with disabilities, older adults, and people from different countries and cultures. We need a constitutional amendment so our rights and freedoms are protected – no matter who is in office.

The New York ERA would:

  • explicitly prohibit discrimination by the government based on a person’s ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, and sex — including their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression — in addition to pregnancy, pregnancy outcomes.

  • add to existing protections against discrimination based on race and religion.

  • ensure New York’s Constitution includes the strongest legal protections for all New Yorkers.

The official campaign kickoff is scheduled for January 2024.  Here is the link to the ERA website campaign. We will be working with the NYCLU in coordinating volunteers to canvass to educate voters so if you can't make the webinar but are interested in getting involved, send an email to ctowndems@gmail.com, subject line:  NYCLU ERA.
