Clarkstown Town Candidates 2025

Town Supervisor Candidate Eugene Bondar

Eugene Bondar for Town Supervisor

Eugene Bondar has served as a government attorney for over ten years, with experience in all three branches ofgovernment. He fought to reduce wasteful government spending, saving taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars, negotiated multi-million-dollar contracts in multiple industries and acquisitions to preserve green space in Rockland – a truly valuable asset for all, and enforced land use and zoning laws to stop illegal development.

Eugene is also one of only two Rockland County Bar Association delegates to the New York State Bar Association, playing a key role in shaping the development of law, educating and informing the public, and advocating for state and federal legislation that promotes equal access to justice. Besides being a public servant, he is an entrepreneur with success in various industries and creating jobs. He resides in New City with his wife and two children.

Eugene understands Clarkstown’s challenges and future opportunities. He is committed to leading to achieve responsible governance, fiscal accountability, implementing public input, and enforcing land use and zoning laws.

A Fresh Vision for Clarkstown

With Eugene’s experience and track record, Clarkstown community will be put first with a focus on:

• Strict Land Use and Zoning Laws Enforcement: Eugene will enforce Clarkstown’s zoning laws to ensure the citizens’ feedback and preference for development serve the community’s vision – not private interests or overdevelopment schemes.

• Stopping Tax Burden Spiral: Clarkstown families and businesses deserve better than endless property tax increases. Eugene will implement fiscal discipline, eliminate wasteful spending, and overhaul the townbudget to provide much-needed relief to our taxpayers.

• Protecting Clarkstown’s Beautiful Environment: Clarkstown's green spaces are not renewable resources. Once developed, they are gone forever. Eugene will fight to protect our suburban character and prevent the urbanization that threatens our quality of life and environment.

• Transparent and Equitable Governance: You deserve leaders who put residents first—not special interests. Eugene’s administration will operate with complete transparency, ensuring your tax dollars are spent wisely, your voices are heard, and concerns are addressed promptly.

Ward 1 Town Councillor Mark Licker

Mark Licker for Ward 1 Town Council

Mark Licker was elected to Clarkstown Town Council last November. He is running for re-election this year. He has lived in New City since 1986 and his wife Lisa has lived in Clarkstown since 1963. They raised three children, Justin, Allison and Jessica, all who flourished in the Clarkstown School District. Mark and his wife Lisa have run a successful law practice in New City for 37 years.

Mark is dedicated to the following common sense approach to government:

  • Transparency in Town Hall: too often citizens get late notice of projects being proposed;

  • Stabilizing Taxes: there is an unacceptable amount of waste in Town Government;

  • Protecting Our Suburban Quality of Life;

  • Preventing Over-Development;

  • Reducing Traffic Congestion within the Town.

  • Safety: The major Routes of 304 and 303 are undergoing traffic studies and we the need the State to make major improvements according to those studies.

These are just some of the items that need to be addressed on a Town level. He will work to accomplish these goals.

Ward 2 Candidate Greg Sheehan

Greg Sheehan for Ward 2 Town Council

Greg Sheehan is a 30-year resident of Valley Cottage, where he raises his two young boys in the house he grew up in. His sons are now the third generation to go through Nyack Schools.

Greg has been a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), Local 25, for ten years and was involved in the construction of the new Tappan Zee Bridge. He has been heavily involved in the community over the past several years – serving as a Sea Tow Captain since 2006, has led a Cub Scout Den for Pack 2002 to share his love for scouting with children and their families, is a member of the Rockland County Environmental Management Council and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Rockland, has been an active volunteer for Soup Angels for two years, and recently became Co-Chair of the Clarkstown Democratic Committee.

After years of working 70+ hours a week on the bridge, Greg dedicated time to expanding his involvement in the community and exploring ways to fight the rising cost of living. Greg understands the importance of having effective affordable local resources to support people of all ages, and that more needs to be done to ease the burdens families, like his, face in Clarkstown.

Outside of his involvement in the community, Greg’s greatest dedication has been to support his family, where he is raising his sons in a single-income home while providing support and care for retired family members. Greg is dedicated to the current and future Clarkstown and getting the town back on track towards a brighter future.

Ward 3 Candidate Dan Maher

Dan Maher for Ward 3 Town Council

Vision for the Future with Deep Roots in the Community

Daniel “Dan” Maher is a proud son of Clarkstown. Born and raised in Nanuet, he received his early education through the Nanuet School District, graduating from Nanuet High School in May2005. Dan went on to graduate cum laude from Manhattan College in May 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in government. He further obtained a master’s degree in government and legislative affairs from George Washington University in Washington DC.

Dan believes we need fresh ideas, fresh perspectives, and fresh drive, from someone who is wholly invested in the future of our community, not the past; from someone with the experience in government to know how to get things done, who knows how to take ideas from conception to enactment, and who knows the importance of reaching across the aisle to find common ground.

Dan has dedicated his entire career to being a public servant. He learned the immense importance of hard work and giving back to the community from his parents; his mother who has spent nearly 40 years in the classroom as a teacher and his father who has been the deacon at St. Aedan’s Parish in Pearl River for over 25 years.

Dan started his career by working for the Office of the New York State Attorney General, helping to clean up the big banks in the wake of the 2008 Great Recession. Subsequently, he worked for multiple members of the U.S. House of Representative, helping to craft legislation on taxes, education, the environment, trade, the military, the federal budget and appropriations, and Social Security and Medicare.

Dan met his wife Katie during their time together at Manhattan College. They married in October of 2021. Both being from Rockland County, after getting married, they decided to make their home in Nanuet to be close to their parents and start a family of their own.

Dan believes that in order to ensure that Clarkstown remains a beautiful place to live and raise a family, we need to make smart investments and practical decisions now that will set us on a better path to future success. For too long, our town leaders have allowed the same static status quo to persist, making establishing and maintaining a life in Clarkstown nearly cost prohibitive and robbing our town of its dynamic potential.

Ward 4 Candidate Gina De Felice

Gina De Felice for Ward 4 Town Council

Gina De Felice has lived in West Nyack for 30 years, where she and her husband raised their 7 children. She believes practical and transparent governing is the path to ensuring that Clarkstown remains a wonderful place for families to thrive.

A graduate of Purchase College, Gina was encouraged to “thinkwide open.” She believes this mindset will be an asset when looking for creative solutions to the issues facing our town, such as mindful development, affordability, and the responsible use of our tax dollars.

As the mom in a blended family with 7 active kids, Gina has moved in and out of all aspects of community life: schools, sports, theater, music, dance, parks, concerts, festivals, etc., and is eager to give back to her community. She has also had ample opportunity to hone her active listening and negotiating skills!

Outside the home, Gina has been a preschool teacher, circus arts instructor, caregiver, and freelance proofreader/copyeditor. She has been a volunteer stagehand for the Nutcracker with Rockland Youth Dance Ensemble (RYDE), and sits on their board of governors. The unifying theme that unites these pursuits is this: people do their best with someone behind the scenes making sure they have what they need to be successful.

Gina believes that everyone can thrive if their environment is set up to encourage growth and well-being and she will work to ensure that Clarkstown is that environment.
